Please be aware that advertisers are vulnerable to a number of frauds, thefts and deceptions.
Do not accept payments for more than the asking price and agree to refund the difference.
Be aware that banks can cancel cheques even after they have been cleared.
Cash, bankers drafts and direct transfers are safer than cheques, but ensure that the money is in your account before parting with your car and documents.
If in any doubt consult your bank as to the safest way to accept payment. One example suggest to the club by a member is the use of Electronic Transfer using the sort code, account number and IBAN number which the bank supplies to the customer. In this way the money is definitely transferred and the payment cannot be withdrawn by the sender
Complete and send off the registration document and try to ensure that the buyer does the same. Under new legislation, you are responsible for the vehicle until the DVLA has been informed of its sale.
