The
North East Region covers Derbyshire, Durham, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire,
Lincolnshire, North, South and West Yorkshire, Northumberland and
Tyne & Wear. The North East Region, with a coastline stretching
from Berwick upon Tweed to the Wash, has many areas of outstanding
natural beauty.
|
 |
It
encompasses Northumberland, possibly the most natural unspoilt area of
England, with many castles and the magnificent Kielder dam, and rarities
such as the pure white Chillingham cattle.
The Yorkshire Dales, with breathtaking scenery, often the location for
may T.V series, including All Creatures Great and Small, Heartbeat, Emmerdale
Farm as well as the infamous Last of the Summer Wine. There is also Castle
Howard, the film location for Brideshead Revisited, and last but not Least
the magnificent Harewood House, home of the North East Regional Concours
for fourteen years.
We are not short of Museums and, in addition to the the wonderful Beamish
open air museum, which captures life in the early century we now have
the Armouries museum, recently relocated from the Tower of London to Leeds.
There is the National Museum of Photography at Bradford and we are very
proud of our wonderful walled city of York, with the magnificent York
Minster and National Railway Museum.
As we travel south we pass through the lovely Peak District of Derbyshire,
Clumber Park and the Dukeries, Sherwood Forest, with the major oak and
Robin Hood folklore, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire. The North East Region
was one of the first to be established in the late seventies. A warm welcome
awaits all visitors. Please come along and meet us..... We're not all
flat caps, racing pigeons and wippets! You could be in for a pleasant
surprise!
