If you have a 3 series BMW registered between 1982 and 1994 it is probably an E30 similar to the ones pictured here. The BMW E30 has been a yardstick right from the start and over the years many other manufactures looked at the 3 series for ideas and style. The E30 has been called an icon and is now considered by many people to be a classic.
Introduced in the UK in March 1983, the first cars were 2-door but later in the year the 4-door was introduced. Between 1983 and 1990 many different models were also brought out including Cabriolets, Touring, Sport, SE and Lux models. The Touring and Cabriolets continued on until 1994 as the new E36 versions were not yet available. We must not forget the M3 - the very successful race and road car covered by the M Power section of the club. Last, but not least, there are versions by Alpina, Hartge and Schnitzer. A total of over 2 million E30 cars were produced altogether.
The E30 Register keeps details of all members’ cars registered with the Register and this becomes particularly relevant as the E30 gets older – as an example, the whereabouts of the original six demonstrations cars are currently unknown.
The E30 Register arranges social meetings and gatherings around the country – usually within easy reach of your home. These are open to all members no matter what car they may have and some gatherings form part of other Car Club events such as the annual BMW Festival.
