| The North West Region runs from the Scottish Border right down to the North Midlands, taking in the counties of Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales, Shropshire, Staffordshire and westward to the Isle of Man. The role of the committee in the North West Region is to provide a variety of activities throughout the year for club members. The region is very active, and we organise at least one event per month for club members to enjoy. These include displays at car shows, tours around car manufacturers, drive-outs, visits to various museums and places of interest. We have also tried our hand at karting, ten-pin bowling, Clay Pigeon shooting and Field Archery, with full tuition from club member Paul Kelly, the former Long Course World Champion! We also enjoy “cruises”, essentially a drive-out over challenging roads in the region, including runs through North Wales, the Pennines, Lake District, Cheshire, Trough of Bowland, and the Peak District. We arrange dealer visits to BMW dealers that allow our members the chance to drive all the latest new models from BMW. We have an excellent relationship with all the BMW dealers in the region, who give good support to the club and its members. Our club stand can be seen at many Classic Car Shows throughout the region with members displaying their cars in support of the club. Our premier event is the annual “BMW Northern Festival” at Tatton Park, Cheshire. The show attracts over 2,000 visitors every year and makes for a fantastic day out for the BMW enthusiast as well as all the family. Regional Pub Meets We also meet socially for a chat and a drink at our famous “North West Natter & Quiz” at The Swan at Bucklow Hill, Cheshire, which is situated on the A556 literally five minutes from Junction 7 of the M56 and Junction 19 of the M6. This makes The Swan accessible and central for most people, so why not pay us a visit? We can guarantee you a warm welcome! There are several sub sections of the region that hold their own monthly ‘meet’ generally in a more convenient location for the particular area. These include, Club members residing on the Isle of Man are also very active, with a variety of meets organised throughout the year at various venues, including the Highwayman at Peel. Motor Racing The North West is also home to four motor racing circuits, these being Oulton Park in Cheshire, The 3-Sisters Raceway at Wigan, Anglesey Circuit on the Isle Of Anglesey and Aintree Motor Racing Circuit, Merseyside. Aintree is adjacent to the horseracing venue of the same name, which is of course home to the world famous “Grand National”. The club visits Oulton Park on a regular basis (mostly to watch the BMW Kumho Challenge series of course!) where quite a lot of North West members of the Car Club are season ticket holders. The Anglesey circuit was also well known for being the home of testing for the 5th Gear TV show with Tiff Needell, Jason Plato and Vicki Butler-Henderson, who regularly tested new models around the track. We also make sure families are well catered for with the events we organise, and the ladies also have a pampering weekend to themselves with at least one visit per year to Champneys!So as you can see joining the BMW car club is not just about owning a BMW but about making friends and having fun.
