| The North East Region covers a massive area from the Scottish borders down through Northumberland, Durham, Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. Due to the shear scale of the area the region has regional branches so everyone is in with a chance of an event happening near them. The region organises many events throughout the year including its own Regional Concours at the fabulous venue of Harewood House Nr Leeds. This is a family event with loads for the kids to do. There will also be a Show & Shine competition slightly less involved than Concours and judged on how clean the exterior of the car is, if you turn up you'll be included. The region also holds its own track day at the great Yorkshire circuit of Croft this was originally an airforce base during the second world war and was home to Wellington, Lancaster, Halifax and Stirling bombers. After the war the airfields were converted for motor racings. In 1997 the circuit underwent a major transformation, the circuit was extended to its present 2.127 miles, the circuit has lost none of its heritage as 60% of the track some 1.25 miles is still built on the original runways. A new control tower, paddock area and spectator area were also built. An important point about Car Club trackdays is that cars don't need to be "M power" to join in. Each branch of the region has a pub meet once a month where like minded people can get together and talk about BMW. Through the summer month there's usually a quiz at these meets with some great prizes on offer. There are plenty of outings planned throughout the year, this year February saw trips to both the National Mining museum and the Royal Armouries in Leeds, both events were well attended even with the very cold weather. The North East region is one of the more active regions so come along to any of the events, one thing you can be sure of is you're be made to feel very welcome. Hope to see you at an event soon. There are some great local shows on offer as well where you can come along and exhibited yours pride and joy. One such show is the Sheffield festival of Transport, this again is a great show for all with masses for the kids to do and plenty of stall for the ladies to spend up on.
